About the Directors
Rev. Gail Wright
Rev. Gail Wright is a retired United Church of Christ pastor. Most of her career she held associate pastor roles focusing on creating and leading the educational programs for children and youth including Middle and High School youth groups, Confirmation classes, and Mission Trips. She was also an active member of local clergy groups providing her the opportunity to create and participate in interfaith and ecumenical efforts including creating programs to respond to Anti-Semitic incidents around the town of Bedford, MA. Since retiring, she has continued to be active in interfaith and ecumenical efforts. For five years she was a member of the Ecumenical and Interfaith Task Force of the Massachusetts UCC Conference which brought together members of various Christian, Jewish, and Muslim faith communities. Gail has worked with S.T.O.P. since 2023. Gail lives in Sudbury and graduated from Harvard Divinity School. She is a grandmother and is actively involved in her home church, Memorial Congregational UCC of Sudbury, including in their recent efforts leading Sudbury’s Family Pride Day.
Cantor Vera Broekhuysen
Cantor Vera Broekhuysen serves Congregation Beth El of the Sudbury River Valley as cantor; she joined the congregation in 2023. She teaches a course on Jewish social justice for 11th & 12th grade MetroWest teens in the JLOFT program (Jewish Learning Opportunities For Teens) and last year, led “Our Neighbors’ Faiths,” an interfaith exploration course, for Beth El High School students. Cantor Vera deeply values opportunities to pursue both religious learning and social justice with interfaith partners, and is grateful for the deep and rich interfaith connections of the greater Sudbury faith communities. She serves on the steering committee of the Boston T’ruah clergy cluster. Cantor Vera has been part of interfaith immigration justice work for several years with T’ruah and with the Merrimack Valley Project. She loves singing in interfaith groups and settings. Cantor Vera is delighted to co-lead the STOP program with Rev. Wright and looks forward to a wonderful year.
